About Baskerville Raceway
Baskerville Raceway at Old Beach, just north of Hobart, is a permanent sealed road circuit and one of the most historic motorsport venues in the country. Built by the Hobart Sporting Car Club in a natural amphitheatre and officially opened in 1958, it is the second-oldest continuously operating circuit in Australia after Mount Panorama. The 2.01-kilometre, 17-corner track is tight, hilly and demanding, with a fast straight, an off-camber corner and a notoriously blind crest at the top of a steep climb โ a layout that rewards precision over outright power. Managed by Motorsports Tasmania, it runs a busy calendar of car and motorcycle race meetings and club days through the year, and the grassy natural hillside gives spectators some of the best trackside viewing of any circuit in Australia.
