About Hidden Valley Drag Strip
Hidden Valley Drag Strip is Darwin's home of drag racing, an ANDRA-standard quarter-mile (400-metre) sealed strip on the Northern Territory Government's Hidden Valley motorsport complex at Berrimah, in Darwin's outer suburbs. It sits within the same precinct as Hidden Valley Raceway β the 2.87 km road circuit best known for hosting the Supercars β but the drag strip is its own dedicated facility, with racing run by the non-profit Hidden Valley Drag Racing Association (HVDRA).
What makes it a genuine experience rather than spectator-only is the off-street / Test'n'Tune program: on nominated nights, everyday drivers can front up in a street-registered car and run flat-out down the strip in a safe, sanctioned environment, side-by-side against another car over the standing quarter-mile. Alongside these come-and-try nights, HVDRA runs a full calendar of sanctioned drag meetings through the Top End's dry season.

FAQ
Can I drive my own car down the strip?
Yes. Hidden Valley runs off-street and Test'n'Tune nights where everyday drivers can race a street-registered car down the quarter-mile in a safe, sanctioned environment. Check the HVDRA calendar for the next night and the scrutineering and safety requirements.
How long is the drag strip?
It is a quarter-mile (about 400-metre) sealed strip built to ANDRA international standards, with a shutdown area beyond the finish line.
Is this the same as the Supercars track?
No. The drag strip is a dedicated facility within the Hidden Valley motorsport complex. The Supercars round is held on the adjoining Hidden Valley Raceway, a 2.87 km road circuit.
When does drag racing run?
The main season is Darwin's dry season (roughly May to September), when HVDRA runs its calendar of sanctioned meetings and off-street nights. Confirm dates on the HVDRA website.
Who runs the drag strip?
Drag racing is managed by the non-profit Hidden Valley Drag Racing Association (HVDRA). The complex itself is owned by the Northern Territory Government.
