About Palmyra Dragway

Palmyra Dragway is a sealed drag strip at Palmyra, just outside Mackay in central Queensland, and one of the oldest privately owned and operated drag-racing venues in Australia โ€” racing here since the late 1960s. Unlike a spectator-only speedway, a dragway like Palmyra runs Test & Tune (Funday) sessions where you can take your own road car or bike down the strip against the clock, as well as sanctioned bracket meetings. The calendar mixes serious drag racing with crowd-pulling burnout events, all-bikes nights and the well-known Karnage in the Canefields, all run by a passionate volunteer club that gives the place its friendly, grassroots atmosphere.
