About Reid Park Pit Complex
Reid Park, on the edge of Townsville's CBD, is home to the permanent pit and paddock complex of the Reid Park Street Circuit โ the semi-permanent track that hosts the annual Townsville 500 Supercars round each year. The 2.86 km, 13-corner circuit was first run in 2009 and is built from a mix of public streets (Boundary Street and Charters Towers Road) and purpose-built sections through the park, with around 70 per cent of the layout specially constructed. Unlike a temporary grandstand setup, the pit building here is a permanent fixture: outside race week it is used for functions, conferences and meetings, while the surrounding parkland stays open to the public year-round for picnics, cycling and walking. This is a spectator and event venue โ there is no public driving on the circuit โ but for Supercars fans it offers a genuine street-circuit spectacle in the heart of North Queensland.
