About Symmons Plains Raceway
Symmons Plains Raceway near Perth, about 30 km south of Launceston, is Tasmania's premier sealed racing circuit and one of the most recognisable tracks in Australian motorsport. The compact 2.41 km, 7-turn circuit has been in continuous operation since 1960 and is best known as host of the Supercars Championship's Tasmania round, run here since 2004 โ the shortest circuit on the Supercars calendar. Its signature feature is the extremely tight Brambles Hairpin at the end of the front straight, set up by a long back straight. For most visitors this is a spectator venue: you come to watch headline events rather than to drive, though the circuit also hosts superbike rounds, drifting and Powercruise-style track events. Compact and natural-amphitheatre in feel, much of the lap is visible from a single vantage point.
