Devonport Racing Club (DRC) at Ladbrokes Park Spreyton is Tasmania's oldest sporting body, established in 1902, and it remains one of the north-west coast's most popular days out. The racecourse holds a unique distinction in Tasmania — it is the only thoroughbred track in the state with an all-weather synthetic surface, a 1,500-metre circuit that allows racing to go ahead regardless of weather. The home straight runs 350 metres and the track caters to race distances from 990 m through to 2,400 m. With 16 race meetings a year, headlined by the prestigious Devonport Cup, there is rarely a long wait between events. The location — five minutes from both Devonport and Latrobe — makes it one of the most accessible racing venues in Tasmania.
